Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of two men at 6200 West Tidwell Road about 9 p.m. on June 17, 2021.
The suspect, Izabella Fatna Houida, 19, is charged with capital murder in the 338th State District Court. A booking photo of Houida is attached to this news release.
She is accused in the deaths of Elia Penaloza, 33, and Buenaventura Miguel Tapia, 37.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives C. Arrington and L. Osborn reported:
An unknown black male suspect was seen shooting at the victims’ vehicle, a black Ford pickup truck, as they attempted to flee from the male. The two victims were struck by gunfire and their truck crashed into a nearby apartment building. Paramedics pronounced the driver of the truck deceased at the scene and transported the passenger to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The suspect fled the scene in a light colored SUV, possibly a Ford Explorer.
Further investigation identified Houida as one of the suspects in this case and, on Wednesday (March 23), she was taken into custody without incident. Houida was subsequently charged for her role in the shooting. At least one other unidentified suspect remains at-large.
