UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting Investigation at 7600 Beechnut Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one man and wounding of two women found at 7600 Beechnut Street about 12:30 a.m. last Friday (January 26).

The suspect, Oscar Vasquez-Guzman, 42, is charged with murder in the 263rd State District Court.  A booking photo of Vasquez-Guzman is attached to this news release.

He is accused for his role in the killing of Otarion Lomax, 19, and shooting of two females, 18 and 19 years of age.HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Stroble and Detective K. Collier reported:  HPD patrol officers and homicide detectives responded to an emergency call regarding three shooting victims transported by private vehicle to the hospital at the above address.  A male, identified as Mr. Lomax, suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound.  Doctors later pronounced him deceased on Saturday (January 27).  The females suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and were treated and released.  A preliminary investigation determined the victims were traveling in a vehicle southbound on the Southwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 59 South) near Hillcroft Avenue when an unknown suspect(s) in a gray or silver Toyota Tundra pickup truck fired shots at them.

Further investigation identified Vasquez-Guzman as the suspect.  He was taken into custody on Tuesday (Jan. 30), transported to the Harris County Jail and charged in the shooting.
