WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: January 25, 2024, at 11:08 a.m.
WHERE: 2500 block of Milwaukee St. 77026.
INJURIES: One civilian found and transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.
DAMAGE: $110,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within a minute to find heavy smoke and fire coming from a side porch and carport area of a house. They made an offensive attack and protected the exposures. A primary search was conducted, and one victim was found on the carport. They were immediately taken to and evaluated by HFD EMS and transported to the hospital. Unfortunately, he was declared deceased at the hospital. No other victims were found, and the house was ventilated. Crews controlled the fire and hit the hot spots in the attic to completely extinguish the fire. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 42 personnel to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 12, 30, 15, 19, 34, 39, 9 and Rescue 10.
