WHAT: Warehouse fire.
WHEN: January 26, 2024, at 5:34 p.m.
WHERE: 5055 S. Loop E. 77021.

CAUSE: Transformer arching (see additional information).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke throughout a large warehouse. They opened the overhead doors to ventilate the smoke from the structure and located an arcing transformer. The occupants stated that earlier that day a plumber had located a leak over the electrical chase and transformer. Crews cooled and extinguished the fire and requested CenterPoint. CenterPoint cut power to the warehouse and firefighters remained on scene to remove the extensive amount of smoke. 37 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 26, 46, 25, 35, 40, 24 and Hazmat 22.
