Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a male at 8351 Park Place Boulevard about 11 p.m. on December 13, 2023.
The suspect, Lex Crouts, 34, is charged with murder in the 488th State District Court. A booking photo of Crouts is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as James Robertson, 40.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Lopez and Detectives M. Perez, J. Escobar and N. Sharp reported:
Officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex at the above address and found the victim in the courtyard. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male, later identified as Mr. Robertson, deceased.
According to witnesses, Robertson was possibly arguing with an unknown male in the courtyard prior to the shooting.
Further investigation identified Crouts as the suspect in this incident. Crouts was arrested on Saturday (January 13) by the HPD Eastside Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team and the HPD Crime Reduction Unit without incident. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and Crouts was subsequently charged for his role.
