Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman found at 1370 Afton Street about 8:35 p.m. on April 9.
The suspect, Edwin Gerardo Galdamez-Alas, 29, is charged with murder and tampering/fabricating evidence in the 248th State District Court. A booking photo of Galdamez-Alas is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Besy Ayala-Barrientos, 39.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Finlay and D. Davis reported:Officers were dispatched to a person down call at an apartment complex at the above address and found Ms. Ayala-Barrientos inside her apartment. She had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene. It is believed the shooting happened earlier in the day.
Further investigation identified Galdamez-Alas as the suspect in the shooting and he was arrested last Thursday (April 13) without incident.
