Houston police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted in the shooting of a man at 8710 Richmond Avenue about 1:10 p.m. on March 8.
The suspect is described as a black male wearing dark-colored shirt, shorts and a ball cap. It is believed the suspect was also wearing a durag under the ball cap and has dreads.
Surveillance video of the suspect is attached to this news release.
The victim, 41, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective S. Hall reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a mechanic shop at the above address and found the victim with gunshot wounds to the leg and hand. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported him to the hospital where he was treated and released.
A preliminary investigation indicated the suspect walked onto the property and spoke with an employee about some work he needed done to his car. As that employee did not speak English, he directed the suspect another employee (victim) The second employee then directed the suspect to a body shop next door. The victim stated the suspect returned approximately 30 minutes later, entered from a back door and shot the victim. The suspect then ran and got into a blue Lexus with partial Texas license plates RTX and fled the scene in an unknown direction.
At this time, there is no known motive for the shooting.
