WHAT: Townhome fire.
WHEN: April 28, 2023 at 10:33 p.m.
WHERE: 9300 block of Westwood Village Dr. 77036.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $168,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $85,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Act of nature (lightning).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find smoke coming from the roof and attic of a 2-story townhome building. They made an offensive attack and extinguished a fire in the attic which had ventilated through the roof. Firestops in the attic helped to prevented it from spreading. A primary search was completed with all accounted for and the utilities were controlled. Two townhomes were damage. It appeared a lightning strike had caused the fire. Crews from Stations 33, 51, 82, 2, 68, 83, 10, 73 and 57 responded to this incident.
