Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 10200 Northwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 290) service road about 12:55 a.m. on Sunday (Dec. 11).
The suspect, Amilcar Isais Cruz Acosta, 43, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 209th State District Court. A booking photo of Cruz Acosta is attached to this news release.
The identity of the female victim, 39, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Le and Officer L. Fenoglio reported:
The victim was a backseat passenger in a black Toyota Camry stopped at a red light in the northbound lanes at the above address when the vehicle was struck from behind by a white Toyota Tundra. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. A front seat passenger in Camry was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Cruz Acosta, the driver of the Tundra, showed signs of intoxication. He was arrested and subsequently charged for his role in the crash.
