Suspect Arrested, Charged in Assault at 6503 Lockwood Drive

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the assault of a woman at 6503 Lockwood Drive about 8:35 p.m. on Thursday (February 22).

The suspect, Charles Lee Jones, 64, is charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 486th State District Court. A booking photo of Jones is attached to this news release.

The victim, 42, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

HPD Major Assault & Family Violence Division Detective A. Chheav reported:

On February 22, Jones and his girlfriend (victim) got into an argument that escalated into him assaulting her. Nearby witnesses saw the incident and attempted to stop Jones. Jones struck one of the witnesses on the head with an unopened can, then pushed the victim onto a moving lane of traffic, causing her to be struck by a vehicle. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital.

Arriving HPD patrol officers detained Jones without further incident. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and Jones was subsequently charged for his role.
