WHAT: (Vacant) Restaurant Fire

DAMAGE: $750,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find smoke coming from the roof of a vacant 1-story restaurant. They made an offensive attack and forced entry. A primary search was completed, the utilities were secured, and the roof was assessed. Conditions deteriorated with fire coming through the roof and all crews exited the structure to conduct a defensive attack. Additional HFD units were requested as well as a tanker from the Aldine Fire Department. HPD was requested for traffic control. Aerial truck operations were used, and the fire was controlled with two hours. Firefighters extinguished additional hot spots and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Crews from Stations 84, 3, 15, 31, 64, 58, 74, Rehab 17 and the Aldine Fire Department responded to this incident.
