Houston police are investigating the death of a man following an incident at 6400 Hillcroft Avenue about 8:35 p.m. on Wednesday (June 16).
The identity of the male, 19, is pending notification to family members. An autopsy is being conducted by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences to determine his cause of death.
HPD Special Investigations Unit Sergeant M. Burroughs and Detectives S. Martinez and J. Hartnett reported:
Officers initiated a narcotics investigation that lead to a traffic stop of a male suspect. The male was uncooperative and resisted arrest. Once in custody, the male admitted to ingesting a controlled substance. Paramedics transported him to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
As is customary when an individual dies in the presence of an officer(s) in the city limits, the case is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit, the Internal Affairs Division and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
