Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 16000 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) about 4:55 a.m. today (June 17).
The identity of the male victim, 43, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Lopez and Officer M. Lares reported:
The driver of a tractor-trailer was traveling westbound at the above address when the 18-wheeler developed mechanical issues and became disabled in a moving lane of the freeway. The victim, driving a white Chevrolet Equinox, struck the rear of the trailer. The Chevrolet then spun and struck a concrete barrier, ejecting the driver. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.
The investigation is continuing.
