Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman at 110 West Rankin Road about 1:10 a.m. today (Oct. 25).
The identity of the victim, 26, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Meek and Detective S. Overstreet reported: Officers were dispatched to a gas station at 1127 West Rankin Road where they observed a red Nissan Sentra parked at the location. The driver was applying pressure to the female victim inside the vehicle. She had suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Officers placed a chest seal on the victim’s wound before HFD paramedics arrived. Medics transported the woman to HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest where she was pronounced deceased. A witness stated the woman and others were inside the Nissan at a gas station up the street (110 West Rankin Road) when five to six black males approached their vehicle. The unknown suspects pulled out guns and fired multiple shots at the vehicle. The victims then fled the scene in the Nissan and stopped at the gas station at 1127 West Rankin when they realized the victim had been shot. No other persons inside the vehicle were injured.
