Investigation into Fatal Crash at 6000 Gulf Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 6000 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 11:45 p.m. on Saturday (April 8).  

The identity of the deceased male, 37, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeants R. Dallas, D. Rose and Officer F. Flynn reported:

The male, a pedestrian, was crossing the northbound lanes of the freeway near the above address when he was struck by a black Saturn Vue traveling northbound.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.

The male driver, 55, of the Saturn remained at the scene and showed signs of impairment.  He was transported to an area hospital with a medical issue unrelated to the crash.

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
