Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 4700 North Shepherd Drive

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 4700 North Shepherd Drive about 12:35 a.m. on April 2.

The suspect, Michele Livesay, 53, is charged with failure to stop and render aid in a crash involving injury in the 182nd State District Court and driving while intoxicated-second offense in Harris County Criminal Court #12.

The identity of the deceased male, 63, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer C. Brothers reported:

The male was crossing the street at the above address when he was struck by a a white Hyundai Elantra traveling northbound.  A preliminary investigation indicated the male was not in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Hyundai, later identified as Livesay, left the scene and was found a short distance away by responding patrol officers. She was taken into custody and subsequently charged for her role in the crash.

Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the male to Ben Taub General Hospital, where doctors pronounced him deceased on Sunday (April 9).

The investigation is ongoing.
