Investigation into Fatal Crash at 2000 Fannin Street

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 2000 Fannin Street about 2 a.m. today (Nov. 11).The identities of the six deceased persons – five males and one female – are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Fendia and Officer T. Riley reported:A black Acura SUV was traveling southbound on Fannin Street through the intersection at Pierce Street with a green light.  At the same time, a black Chrysler 300 traveling eastbound on Pierce Street at a high rate of speed ran the red light and struck the Acura.  The impact caused multiple persons in the vehicles to be ejected.  The Chrysler left the roadway onto a sidewalk and struck a pedestrian, believed to be a homeless male. The at-fault driver of the Chrysler was pronounced deceased at the scene.  It is believed three persons in the Acura were ejected.  Two of them died at the scene.  The male pedestrian was also pronounced deceased.Four other persons were transported to area hospitals.  Two of them were later pronounced deceased, one person remains unconscious, and the other is in stable condition and is talking.The investigation is continuing.JFC      11-11-23Inc #161448723-O
