Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 12000 Clifton Oaks Drive about 2:10 p.m. on Saturday (April 27).
The victim is identified as Brooklyn Hughes, a 22-month-old girl.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant V. Vo and Officer C. Vargas reported:
A preliminary investigation indicates Brooklyn was in the driveway of a residence and playing behind a black Ford Escape when the female driver, who did not see the child, backed up and struck her. Paramedics transported Brooklyn to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
The female driver, 37, was questioned and released. After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined the circumstances of the crash will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
