WHAT: House fire.
WHEN: April 17, 2023 at 12:35 a.m.
WHERE: 6300 block of Costa Mesa Dr. 77053.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $165,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $10,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire coming through the roof of a 1-story abandoned house. They made an offensive attack and conducted a primary search. Plywood and burglar bars were removed for a faster and safer exit from the structure. The crews switched to a defensive attack until the fire was controlled and extinguished the fire. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. Firefighters from Stations 2, 21, 59, 48, 80, 82 and 24 responded to this incident.
