Apartment Fire in The Spring Branch East Area

WHAT: Apartment Fire.

WHEN: December 6, 2022 at 10:28 p.m.

WHERE: 1855 Wirt Rd. 77055.

INJURIES: Three children transported to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

PROPERTY SAVED: $410,000 in estimated property saved.

DAMAGE: $90,000 in estimated damage.

CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental, due to an unspecified electrical malfunction in and around a computer workstation in an apartment unit.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find fire coming from the corner of an apartment building. They made an offensive attack and conducted a primary search. Three children were transported to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries after escaping from a third-floor balcony. Additional manpower was requested, and the roof was ventilated. The fire was stopped in the initial apartments and crews extinguished the fire. The American Red Cross responded to assist the residents and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Firefighters from Stations 5, 50, 69, 2, 4, 28, 31, 13, 38, 62, 77, 49, 24, 30, Heavy Rescue 11 and The Village Fire Department responded to this incident.
