WHAT: Apartment fire.
WHEN: January 26, 2023 at 2:50 p.m.
WHERE: 6425 Westheimer Rd. 77057.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $5,375,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $35,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental, due to an unspecified electrical malfunction in or near an AC unit.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find smoke coming from a 3-story apartment building. They entered a second-floor apartment unit and found a small fire and smoke behind a wall in the bathroom. Upon searching the unit below it, the origin was found and extinguished. A primary search was completed, and The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the residents. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Crews from Stations 2, 6, 28, 68, 3, 38, 51, 60, 69, 83, 57 and the Village Fire Department responded to this incident.
