Investigation into Fatal Crash at 12400 Northwest Freeway

Houston police have learned a man critically injured in a crash at 12400 Northwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 290) service road about 9:15 a.m. on Sunday (August 27) has died.

The identity of the man, 35, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer M. Tamez reported:

The victim was a passenger in a purple Infiniti G35 traveling southbound on the service road near the above address.  A silver Toyota Tacoma was traveling southbound in the 4900 block of Bingle Road and stopped at a red light at the intersection of the Northwest Freeway.  As the Toyota entered the intersection, it was struck by the Infiniti.

The impact caused both vehicles to strike a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and a blue Nissan Versa stopped at the light.  The Infinity then rolled over, struck a curb and then struck a Chevrolet Camaro, a Honda Accord and a Chevrolet Corvette, all unoccupied.

The passenger in the Infinity (victim) was transported to the hospital in critical condition.  The male driver, 19, of the Infinity was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.  The male driver, 61 and female driver, 45, of the other two vehicles were transported to area hospitals in unknown conditions.

Doctors pronounced the victim deceased on Thursday (Aug. 31).

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
