Suspect Charged in Death of Man at 4004 Knoxville Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect in the death of a man and the wounding of a woman at 4004 Knoxville Street about 12:35 a.m. on January 24.

The suspect, Christian Cameron Flowers, 25, is charged with murder in the 351st State District Court. His booking photo is attached to this news release.

The victim is identified as Robert Louis Stephens, 46.

The female, 54, suffered minor injuries.

HPD Major Assault & Family Violence Division Detective K. Yeamans and HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Holbrook and Detective R. Lujan reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to an assault in-progress call at the above address and observed the residence on fire. Officers and Houston Fire Department firefighters ensured everyone (three persons inside) exited the residence.

The injured female told officers that prior to observing the fire in the kitchen area, she witnessed her son, Flowers, assault her brother, Mr Stephens, with a hammer inside the residence.  Flowers then assaulted the woman, causing minor injuries.  After all three exited the residence, paramedics transported Stephens to an area hospital, where doctors later pronounced him deceased.

Officers arrested Flowers at the scene.  While in custody, on January 26, Flowers was charged with arson for his role for setting the fire.  Following subsequent investigation and consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, on Wednesday (August 30), the charge against Flowers was upgraded to murder.  Flowers has remained in custody since the January incident.
