2-Alarm Apartment Fire in The Brays Oaks Area

WHAT: 2-alarm apartment fire

WHEN: January 11, 2022 at 7:50 p.m.

WHERE: 7800 W. Airport Blvd, 77071

INJURIES: No reported injuries.

PROPERTY SAVED: $6.1 million in estimated property saved.

DAMAGE: $500 thousand in estimated damage.

CAUSE: Under investigation.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within three minutes to find heavy fire coming from the first and second floors of an apartment building. They made an offensive attack on the fire which involved multiple units and was coming through the roof. A second alarm was requested and while crews attacked the fire, others worked to prevent it from spreading. A primary search was completed, and the utilities were secured. Crews extinguished the fire and ensured there were no additional hotspots. The power company disconnected the power to the building and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The American Red Cross was requested to assist the residents with at least 10 of the 16 units in the building with fire damage and the remaining six with smoke and water damage. Firefighters from Stations 82, 2, 21, 28, 59, 68, 10, 48, 51, 60, 73, 8, 37, 24, 57, Rescue 10 and Rehab 17 responded to this incident.
