WHAT: Apartment Fire

INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $75 thousand in estimated damage.
DAMAGE: $275 thousand in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Failure of equipment or heat source (electrical).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find smoke coming from a 2-story apartment building. A primary search was completed, and crews made access into the attic to extinguish the fire. The utilities were controlled, and the building was ventilated. Once the fire was fully extinguished, firefighters conducted salvage and overhaul. The fire appeared to be electrical in nature, starting in the attic. The apartment manager was advised to have an electrician evaluate the building prior to turning the power back on. The American Red Cross was requested to assist the residents. Crews from Stations 15, 31, 64, 63, 67, 74, 84, 30 and the Aldine Fire Department responded to this incident.
