2-Alarm Townhome Fire in The Sharpstown Area

WHAT: 2-alarm townhome fire.

WHEN: November 18, 2021 at 6:59 a.m.

WHERE: 6700 block of Sands Point, 77074

INJURIES: One firefighter was transported to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

PROPERTY SAVED: $265 thousand in estimated property saved.

DAMAGE: $205 thousand in estimated damage.

CAUSE: Unintentional - Candle

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within three minutes to find heavy fire coming from the first and second floors of a townhome and upgraded the response to a second alarm. Crews made an offensive attack and ventilated the home. A primary search was completed with no one found. Firefighters checked the neighboring townhomes for extension and tapped the fire out within about 20 minutes. One firefighter was transported to the hospital for a non-life-threatening injury. The American Red Cross was notified to assist the residents. HFD Arson investigators determined that the fire was accidental, caused by a burning candle. Firefighters from Stations 28, 10, 57, 51, 28, 68 and 60 responded to this incident.
