2-Alarm Hotel Fire in The Westchase Area

WHAT: 2-alarm hotel fire.

WHEN: February 14, 2024, at 10:04 p.m.

WHERE:2900 Briarpark Dr. 77042.

INJURIES: No reported injuries.

PROPERTY SAVED: $1,800,000 in estimated property saved.

DAMAGE: $200,000 in estimated damage.

CAUSE: Under investigation (appears accidental – due to torch-down roofing operations).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find heavy fire coming from the roof of a 10-story hotel and ensured all occupants had been safely evacuated. The fire was upgraded to a second alarm and once firefighters were able to access the roof, crews extinguishing a small smoldering fire in the air handler and some of the roof insulation. The hotspots were put out and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 114 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 60, 69, 2, 5, 6, 21, 28, 68, 78, 83, 8, 10, 51, 57, 75, 76, 37, 24, 33, Heavy Rescue 11, Rescue 10, Rehab 17, and the Village Fire Department.
