WHAT: 2-alarm apartment fire.
WHEN: December 28, 2023, at 7:14 p.m.
WHERE: 11770 Westheimer Rd. 77077.
INJURIES: One firefighter transported to the hospital.

DAMAGE: $250,000 in estimated damage with 12 units damaged.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find heavy smoke and fire coming from a second-story apartment building and made an offensive attack. A second alarm was requested, and crews conducted a primary search. They opened the ceilings and attacked the fire that had spread into the attic. A captain was transported to the hospital after he was hit by falling sheet rock and knocked briefly unconscious. The utilities were secured, and CenterPoint cut power to the building. The Houston Police Department was notified for traffic control. The fire was brought under control and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. The American Red Cross was notified for residents of the 12 units damaged by the fire. 81 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 69, 2, 28, 68, 78, 83, 10, 57, 60, 69, 75, 76, 86, 11, 6, 8, 37, 24, 57, 33, Rescue 10 and Rehab 17.
