WHAT: Water rescue.
WHEN: April 7, 2023 at 4:15 a.m.
WHERE: Near 599 Preston St. at 399 Smith St. 77002.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find three individuals on a sidewalk under a bridge. They were trapped by rising water from the bayou. Additional resources were requested, and a 35-foot ladder was lowered over the side of the bridge to the sidewalk. HFD Technical Rescue Team members climbed down the ladder and assisted the trapped citizens up the ladder to safety. Crews from Stations 8, 6, Rescue 11 and Heavy Rescue 11 responded to this incident.
