UPDATE: Suspect Charged, Arrested in November Fatal Shooting at 215 Sunnyside Street

A suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 215 Sunnyside Street about 4:50 p.m. on November 14, 2022, has been arrested.

The suspect, Joseph Magee, 22, is charged with murder, theft of a firearm, and unlawful carry of a weapon in the 482nd State District Court.

A Texas Driver License photo of Magee, who is awaiting extradition from the state of Georgia, is attached to this news release.

He’s accused in the killing of Anthony Deadrick, Jr., 19.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives D. Davis and B. Stephens reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the apartment complex at the above address and found the victim inside an apartment.  He had been shot and paramedics pronounced the man, later identified as Mr. Deadrick, deceased.

A witness stated Deadrick was with a friend who was playing with a gun when the gun went off and struck Deadrick .  The friend (suspect) then fled the scene on foot.

Further investigation identified Magee as the suspect in this case and, on April 6, he was subsequently charged for his role in the incident. On Wednesday (April 19), he was arrested in Roswell, Georgia and is awaiting extradition back to Houston.
