A suspect charged and wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 4831 North Shepherd Drive about 3 p.m. on April 11 is in custody.
The suspect, Jamarcus Renard Toliver (b/m, 32), is charged with murder in the 185th State District Court. He is accused in the death of Joseph Lewis, 38.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives E. Martinez and L. Palma reported:
Mr. Lewis and Toliver drove into the parking lot of the motel at the above address and got into a confrontation. At some point, Toliver (in the driver’s seat) fired shots at Lewis, striking him, as he sat in the passenger seat. Toliver pushed Lewis out of the car and ran over him as he fled the scene.
Further investigation led to Toliver’s whereabouts and, on Tuesday (April 20), he was taken into custody at his residence without incident.
