UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Woman’s Death at at 11000 Fuqua Street

Charges have ben filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a woman found in the 11000 block of Fuqua Street about 3:30 p.m. on April 22.

The suspect, Derek Fischer, 31, is charged with murder and tampering with evidence in the 209th State District Court.  A booking photo of Fischer is attached to this news release.

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences has identified the victim as Jennifer Ramirez, 45.  Her manner and cause of death was determined to be by gunshot wound.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Jorsch and D. Lunceford reported:

HPD homicide detectives were conducting an investigation in the area near the above address and located what appeared to be a grave.  The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences responded to the scene and a body was found.

At that time, there were no known witnesses or suspects.

Further investigation, witness statements and evidence obtained identified Fischer as the suspect in this case.  The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and charges for murder and tampering with evidence were filed.

On Saturday (April 27), homicide detective received information on Fischer’s whereabouts and he was taken into custody by HPD Northbelt Patrol Division officers with assistance from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
