Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 9601 West Montgomery Road about 11:10 p.m. on November 28.
Suspect Edward O Neal, IV (b/m, 23) aka Edward ONeal IV, charged with murder in the 183rd State District Court. A photo of O Neal is attached to this news release.
The victim, Derrick Mike, 39, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased the next day (November 29).
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives L. Kauffman and C. Bowling and Homicide Division Sergeants B. Smith and T. Hollohazy reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a reported shooting at the apartment complex at the above address. Upon arrival, they found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The suspect, described only as a black male, 21 to 23 years of age, had fled the scene.
Paramedics transported the victim to HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest hospital.
Further investigation led to the identification of O Neal as a suspect in this case. On Friday (Dec. 4), he was arrested and charged for his role in the incident.
