UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 2510 Berry Road

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 2510 Berry Road about 10:05 p.m. on October 4.

The suspect, Leo Fuentes, 56, is charged with murder in the 482nd State District Court.  He is accused in the death of Jose Espinoza, 33.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants R. Watson, M. Burrow, K. Meek and Detective S. Overstreet reported:

Officers responded to a shooting call in a convenience store parking lot at the above address and were advised that paramedics pronounced a man, later identified as Mr. Espinoza, deceased at the scene.  Espinoza had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Detectives learned Espinoza confronted an unknown male suspect in the parking lot.  When Espinoza turned and began to walk away, the suspect pulled out a gun, shot him multiple times and then fled in an unknown vehicle.

Further investigation identified Fuentes as the suspect in this case and, on Wednesday (October 19), he was arrested by members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force without incident,
