Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a juvenile female at 12601 South Green Drive about 12:40 a.m. last Friday (June 11).
The suspect, Jaylen George (b/m, 20), is charged with capital murder in the 232nd State District Court. A booking photo of George is attached to this news release.
The identity of the victim, 15, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Arrington and Detective A. Dudley reported:
Officers were dispatched to a shooting call to the apartment complex at the above address and located the victim outside an apartment building. Paramedics pronounced the female deceased with a gunshot wound.
Witnesses told officers the victim might have been shot by her brother, George A family member advised officers George admitted to shooting his sister. George was not on scene when officers arrived.
Further investigation developed information on George’s whereabouts. He was was taken into custody later in the day (June 11) without incident. George was found to have three open felony warrants.
