UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in December Fatal Shooting at 6100 Elm Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 6100 Elm Street about 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 17, 2021.

The suspect, Bryant Woods, 34, is charged with capital murder in the 262nd State District Court.   A booking photo of Woods is attached to this news release.

He is accused in the death of Christopher Silva, 21.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Roberts and Detective L. Lange reported:

HPD officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the apartment complex at the above address and located Mr. Silva outside an apartment.  He had suffered apparent gunshot wounds.  Paramedics responded and pronounced Silva deceased at the scene.

Further investigation identified Woods as the suspect in this case.

Officers with the HPD South Gessner and Southwest Patrol Division Crime Suppression Teams arrested Woods last Friday (July 1) without incident.

At this time, the department does not believe there is a continuous threat to the general public.
