UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in December Fatal Shooting at 3719 Elgin Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a male at 3719 Elgin Street about 11:30 p.m. on December 12.

The suspect, Larry Holmes, 18, is charged with murder in the 184th State District Court. A booking photo of Holmes is attached to this news release.

The deceased male is identified as Edwin Quinones, 16.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants K. Meek and R. Watson, and Detectives S. Overstreet and M. Burrow reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex at the above address and were advised by security officers they heard multiple gunshots in the area.  Officers located Quinones inside an elevator.  He had multiple gunshot wounds.  Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced Quinones deceased at the scene.

Two males, believed to be in their late teens to early 20s, were seen fleeing from the elevators and leaving the complex.

Further investigation revealed Quinones was in the process of committing a robbery when he was shot during a struggle in the elevator with other males.  Holmes was identified as an accomplice to Quinones and was subsequently charged for his role in the incident.

Last Friday (Dec. 29), members of the HPD Southwest Patrol Division’s Crime Suppression Team arrested Holmes on unrelated charges. He was then booked into the Harris County Jail.
