Houston police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect seen on surveillance video and wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 8849 Braesmont about 7 p.m. on August 27.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 18 to 25 years of age, with a slim to medium build. He was wearing a dark hoodie and white rubber boots.
Surveillance video of the suspect can be seen on the HPD YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/VomMWvH0g4E. A surveillance photo of the suspect is attached to this news release.
The victim, William Lawrence Duncan, 43, of Houston, was transported to Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Thomas and Officer R. Moss reported:
HPD patrol officers attempted to respond to a shooting at the above address but could not reach the apartment complex due to high water. HPD SWAT officers managed to reach the location by air boat and found Mr. Duncan had been transported to the hospital.
An investigation determined Duncan had gotten into a disturbance at a convenience store at 5402 Birdwood. As the disturbance carried over into the parking lot, store clerks intervened and broke up the fight. Duncan then walked away toward the apartment complex. A short time later, he was shot in the complex parking lot.
Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
