Houston police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a person of interest wanted for questioning in the fatal shooting of a man found at 5999 Savoy Drive about 7:05 a.m. on January 9.
The person of interest is identified as Michael Marquie Scruggs, 31. He is described as a black male with brown or colorful braided hair, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and between 160 to 165 pounds. Photos of Scruggs are attached to this news release.
The deceased male is identified as Aoun Khalil Khashan, 26.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives W. Huff and J. Nguyen reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a person down call in a parking lot at the above address and found an unresponsive male lying near a plant shrub and a building. The male, identified as Mr. Khashan, had been shot multiple times and responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased.
Investigators believe Scruggs may have information about this case and would like to speak to him. He is not charged in the incident.
