A bicyclist critically injured in a crash at 6300 Griggs about 8:50 p.m. on April 25 has died from his injuries.
The identity of the victim, 63, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
One suspect, Jacqueline Cruz (H/f, 22), is charged with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #4. A booking photo of Cruz was previously released to media last Thursday (April 26).
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Maness and Officer M. Rios reported:
Cruz was driving a silver Nissan Altima westbound on Griggs. The victim, a bicyclist, was traveling southbound on Buford, failed to yield the right of way and was struck by the Nissan. The victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition. Doctors pronounced him deceased on Sunday (April 29).
Cruz remained at the scene. Further evaluation determined she was under the influence of an unknown narcotic and she was subsequently arrested and charged in this incident.
The investigation is continuing.
