Houston police homicide detectives have obtained new information leading them to request the Harris County District Attorney’s Office drop charges against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man at 9000 Townpark Drive about 6:40 a.m. on Sunday (October 27).
The victim, Manuel Ixmata, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Fregia and J. Roscoe reported:
Mr. Ixmata and a Hispanic male were part of a larger dispute in an apartment complex parking lot at 6300 Ranchester during which Ixmata was stabbed. Ixmata then ran to his apartment at the above address where he collapsed and was found by his brother.
The initial investigation led to the identification, arrest and charging of a suspect in this case. Further investigation has led to new information that has prompted detectives to believe the arrested suspect is no longer responsible for Ixmata’s death and are asking the charges be dropped.
Anyone with information on this case or the identity of the suspect, who remains at large, is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
