Charges have been upgraded against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 233 Rosamond Street that occurred about 11:35 p.m. last Thursday (February  25).

The suspect, Tracy B. Miles (b/m, 46), is charged with murder in the 339th State District Court and felon in possession of a weapon in the 209th State District Court.  A booking photo of Miles, released last Friday (Feb. 26), is attached to this news release.

Miles was initially charged with being a felon in possession of a weapon.

The identity of the victim, 34, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives C. LaFour and A. Dudley reported:

Officers responded to a disturbance call at a convenience store at 330 Rosamond Street and located a male (Miles) outside the store.  Miles was detained for further investigation and officers recovered a pistol from him.

During their investigation, Miles advised officers of a second scene at an apartment complex at the above address where a male was found with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced deceased by paramedics.

Detectives contacted the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and presented the facts of the case.  Miles was subsequently charged with felon in possession of a weapon.

After an autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences determined the victim died of a gunshot wound, charges of murder were accepted by the District Attorney’s Office.  Miles was already in police custody when his charge was upgraded.
