UPDATE: Charge Upgraded on Suspect Arrested in Fatal Assault at 1518 Robin

Charges have been upgraded against a suspect arrested in the fatal assault of a woman and assault of a man at 1518 Robin about 11:30 p.m. on March 26.

The suspect, Robert L. Perry (b/m, 43), is charged with murder in the 185th State District Court.  A July 2018 booking photo of Perry, courtesy of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, is attached to this news release.

The victims, Tom Stubble, 57, and Barbara Haynes, 55, were transported to area hospitals where Ms. Haynes was pronounced dead on June 6.

HPD Major Assaults Unit Officers B. Salazar and A. Williams reported:

Ms. Haynes, who is disabled, and Mr. Stubble were found inside their home severely beaten.  At the outset of the investigation, there were no known suspects.

Further investigation led to the identity of the suspect as Robert Perry, Ms. Haynes’ former son-in-law.  He was initially charged with aggravated assault-serious bodily injury on May 24 and was arrested on July 3.

Autopsy results determined the cause of Ms. Haynes’ death as complications of blunt head trauma.  The Harris County District Attorney’s Office upgraded the charge against Perry to murder last Saturday (Sept. 22).
