Suspect Charged, Wanted in Shooting at 4601 Leffingwell Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the shooting of a man at 4601 Leffingwell Street about 1:25 a.m. on January 23.

The suspect, Joshua Jose Escobar, 30, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 176th State District Court.  A 2017 photo of Escobar, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release.

The victim, 24, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives V. Gamez and E. Gunn reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found a man with apparent gunshot wounds to both legs.  Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to the hospital.

A preliminary investigation indicated the victim got into a verbal altercation with his girlfriend.  A short time later, a friend of the girlfriend arrived at the location and fired a weapon at the victim multiple times.  The suspect and the girlfriend then fled the scene together in a vehicle described only as a dark sedan.

Further investigation identified the suspect as Escobar.  The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and Escobar was subsequently charged.  He remains at-large.
