Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the stabbing of a man at 4138 South Acres Drive about 3:25 p.m. on Tuesday (July 19).
The suspect, Joseph Lee Beauchamp, 39, is charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 338th State District Court.
The male victim, 55, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective R. Cisneros reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a stabbing at a residence at the above address. Witnesses told officers Beauchamp and a relative got into a verbal altercation that led to a physical fight. Beauchamp stabbed the relative several times during the fight. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to the hospital. Beauchamp was also transported to the hospital for injuries sustained during the altercation. Beauchamp was interviewed by detectives and stated he had stabbed his relative in self-defense.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and Beauchamp was arrested and subsequently charged for his role in the incident.
