| Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of an infant at 15101 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) service road about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday (August 2).
The suspect, Jamal Edward Robertson, 33, is charged with injury to a child-serious bodily injury in the 177th State District Court. A booking photo of Robertson is attached to this news release.
The cause of death of the one-month-old male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Dunn and Detective M. Hughey reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a call for assistance from Houston Fire Department emergency personnel at a motel at the above address. An unresponsive baby boy was transported by paramedics to Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus where he was pronounced deceased,
Following a preliminary investigation and injuries found on the child, Robertson, the child’s father, was detained and subsequently charged in the incident.
The investigation is continuing with additional charges possible.
