Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a woman at 12206 Flushing Meadows Drive about 10:05 p.m. last Saturday (December 31).
The suspect, Derrion Mitchell, 19, is charged with murder in the 177th State District Court. A booking photo of Mitchell is attached to this news release.
The identity of the victim, 45, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives D. Higgs and K. Fregia reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a stabbing call at the residence at the above address. A male told officers he left his female roommate at the residence and when he returned, he found her in the backyard with multiple stab wounds. Paramedics pronounced the woman deceased at the scene.
Further investigation led to the identity of the suspect as Mitchell, another male who had been staying at the residence. Mitchell was arrested on Tuesday (Jan. 3) without incident.
