Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting in 2100 Johnson Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of two men at 2100 Johnson Street about 11 p.m. on Sunday (March 1).  

The suspect, Daniel Puccio (w/m, 19), is charged with capital murder in the 180th State District Court.

The identities of the deceased males, 23 and 18, are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Horn and Detective J. Escobar reported:

The 23-year-old male victim agreed to meet with Puccio at the above address to sell narcotics.  During the transaction, Puccio fled on foot and the victim was confronted by two additional suspects who ran up to the vehicle from a nearby vacant residence.  The victim exchanged gunfire with one of the suspects, 18, who died at the scene.  The older victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

Further investigation identified Puccio as a suspect in this case and he was later detained.  Puccio admitted to homicide investigators he contacted the victim to purchase narcotics and intended to rob the victim of his money.
