Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 13360 Northborough Drive

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 13360 Northborough Drive about 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 8).

The suspect, Kevin Ray Vercher, aka “Pee Wee”, 52, is charged with murder in the 232nd State District Court. A booking photo of Vercher is attached to this news release.

The identity of the victim is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Jorsch and C. Bowling reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the parking lot of a business at the above address and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound on the sidewalk. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

A witness and surveillance video indicated the suspect fled the scene in a motorized wheelchair. Officers searched the area and found Vercher in a nearby apartment complex with his motorized wheelchair and took him into custody.

Further investigation revealed the victim at been sleeping on the sidewalk at the time of the shooting.

Vercher was subsequently arrested and charged for his role in the shooting.
