Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 9900 Richmond Avenue about 11:45 p.m. on Thursday (Feb. 9).
The suspect, Malik Khalil-Najee Brown, 26, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 232nd State District Court. A booking photo of Brown, who remains hospitalized, is not available at this time.
The identity of the deceased female victim, 22, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer F. Flynn reported:
Brown was driving a silver Volkswagen Jetta westbound at the above address when he failed to maintain a single lane of traffic and struck a tree in the center grassy median.
Paramedics transported Brown and a female passenger (victim) to the hospital where the woman was pronounced deceased. Brown showed signs of intoxication and was subsequently charged in the crash.
